AFTER 18 YEARS, THEY ONCE AGAIN CHOSE PERFECTA QUALITY

Long-standing satisfaction with Perfecta technology was also a decisive factor when modernising RATHGEBER’s cutting department. The original high-speed cutter, which had served reliably in production for 18 years, was replaced by a new BaumannPerfecta 132.
Marking solutions combining design and functionality
RATHGEBER specialises in customised design and industrial marking solutions. Its products are used across numerous industries and often become an important part of the finished product—not only as carriers of a brand or information, but also as functional and aesthetic elements.
The company’s portfolio includes metal and plastic labels, self-adhesive labels, dimensional lettering and 3D logos, safety markings, rating plates, front panels, membrane keypads and solutions incorporating RFID and NFC technologies. RATHGEBER supports its customers throughout the entire process, from the initial design through production to the final application of the marking.
The company’s history in the Czech Republic began in 1994. The following year, it started planning the construction of its own production facility in Bystřice nad Pernštejnem, where it continues to operate today.
Manufacturing such a broad range of technical and design elements places high demands on precision, repeatability and processing quality. Every stage of the production process must therefore reliably handle different materials, formats and individual job requirements.
After 18 years, proven technology makes way for a new machine
For many years, RATHGEBER used a Perfecta high-speed cutter in its production facility. The machine provided 18 years of reliable service, allowing the company to experience the technology’s quality, precision and durability first-hand.
When the time came to modernise the cutting department, the positive experience with the existing machine was one of the key reasons for choosing the same brand again. We therefore supplied and installed a new BaumannPerfecta 132high-speed cutter at RATHGEBER’s production facility.
The new technology builds on a proven solution while offering more modern controls, greater operating efficiency and improved integration of the cutting process into the company’s current production workflow.
Precision for larger formats and a wide range of materials
The BaumannPerfecta 132 offers a cutting width and usable back-table length of 1,320 mm. It therefore enables the precise processing of larger sheets and various types of materials, which can be fed into the cutter individually or in piles.
According to the manufacturer, the machine is suitable not only for processing paper and board, but also films and foils, rubber, abrasive materials, leather and other flat materials. This versatility is particularly beneficial for production facilities handling a diverse range of jobs and requiring a high degree of flexibility.
The machine achieves a speed of up to 44 cuts per minute, offers a maximum clamp opening of 165 mm and a backgauge speed of 300 mm per second. The cutter is built around a robust, enclosed cast-iron frame, providing the rigidity required for stable operation and precise cutting.
Simpler operation and greater process control
An important part of the cutter is the Cutpit control system with a touchscreen interface. Operators can select different modes according to the nature and scope of each job. The clear graphical interface makes it possible to monitor the workflow before, during and after cutting.
The control system provides an overview of the individual program steps and allows parameters such as dimensions, clamping pressure and backgauge speed to be adjusted. Cutting programs can be stored in the machine’s internal memory or transferred via USB or the company network. Depending on the configuration, the cutter can also be incorporated into a digital workflow, using prepress data to generate cutting programs automatically.
Precise positioning of the material is supported by the servo-controlled ServoDrive backgauge. The central clamp pull mechanism distributes the clamping force evenly, creating the conditions required for accurate cutting. The enclosed cutting table with its stainless-steel surface enables gentle handling of the material while protecting the machine’s mechanical components from contamination.
The manufacturer also places considerable emphasis on operator safety. The safety system incorporates control mechanisms for adjusting the clamping pressure and monitoring the safety light barriers. The knife-changing device is designed to keep the knife stable during handling and prevent uncontrolled movement.
An investment in the continued development of production
The new cutter will help RATHGEBER streamline material processing while maintaining the high level of precision required in the production of technical and design marking solutions. More advanced controls and simpler job preparation can help shorten production times, improve repeatability and make the operator’s work more comfortable.
The installation also demonstrates that the true quality of a technology is reflected not only in its technical specifications, but also in its long-term reliability. When a customer chooses the same manufacturer again after 18 years of operation, it is one of the strongest expressions of trust a brand can receive.
The original Perfecta cutter set a high standard during its 18 years in operation. The new BaumannPerfecta 132 builds on this experience and opens up further opportunities for precise and efficient production at RATHGEBER.
