Description
Warehouses, logistics companies, agricultural businesses and healthcare facilities are continuously seeking new and innovative ways to increase operational efficiency and speed while maintaining maximum accuracy and safety. Many companies are therefore starting to use autonomous mobile robots (AMRs).
What are autonomous mobile robots?
An autonomous mobile robot (AMR) is a robot capable of autonomously sensing its surroundings and moving within it. Unlike older autonomous AGVs, which are confined to fixed routes or rails and often require operator supervision, AMRs operate completely flexibly.
AMRs use advanced sensors, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and planning software, which continuously analyze their surroundings and move completely autonomously without the need for guiding elements. Thanks to cameras and sensors, they can recognize obstacles such as pallets, boxes, or people. In such a case, the robot automatically slows down, stops, or chooses an alternative route to safely continue working.
MBO has established a partnership with the Austrian company AGILOX to offer a simple and innovative solution for intralogistics automation.
AGILOX is among the technological leaders in the field of AMR systems and brings top-notch solutions for modern industry. The advanced X-Swarm technology distinguishes AGILOX from the competition and ensures a high level of performance, flexibility, and reliability that customers can fully rely on.
Automation of printing and folding machines is a long-term topic in the graphic arts industry, and significant progress has already been made in this area. On the other hand, material handling within the workflow is still frequently performed manually – paper is unloaded, stored, fed, and removed predominantly by hand.
The vision of an intelligent factory is realizable only thanks to precise planning, monitoring, and evaluation of orders across the entire production process. AMR technology here represents a key element, because it enables very fast and easy integration into existing processes. Material handling and its delivery occur just-in-time without the need for complex preliminary calculations and planning.
Data obtained from AMR operation can also be used for further process optimization and more accurate calculation of production costs.
With higher efficiency of work processes, material handling and storage costs can be significantly reduced.
AMR systems do not require breaks, are not subject to working hours or illness. They can work efficiently in multi-shift operation and autonomously recharge according to current needs.
Employees are also relieved of physically demanding activities, such as handling heavy pallets, which helps protect their health. Routine and monotonous tasks are transformed into intelligent and better-planned processes, overall increasing comfort and satisfaction of workers.
