SMYTH DX-E

Smyth DX-E is a compact automatic system designed for the production of stitched books and catalogs from digitally printed sheets. In a single smooth production process it handles loading of sheets, creasing, folding, gathering and subsequent book block stitching.

The device processes standalone sheets from which it creates four-page folders. These can be inserted into the feeding station into each other and joined into folders with different numbers of pages. They are then automatically transported to the sewing section of the machine.

DX-E represents an affordable solution for printers that want to automate finishing of digital printing and produce high-quality section-sewn books even in small and medium runs.

Automated production in one pass

Automatic loader ensures smooth feeding of sheets into the machine. For precise and high-quality processing, the DX-E is equipped with a TECNIFOLD Tri-Creaser Fast Fit creasing unit. After creasing comes folding, stacking of individual sheets, and stitching of the created sections.

The entire process runs automatically, reducing the need for manual operation, shortening production times, and lowering the risk of errors.

Check of correct sheet sequence

Optional system for reading 1D and 2D barcodes and Data Matrix codes continuously checks every processed arch. This enables verification of the correct order of individual parts and the variable composition of the book. The inspection system using the OMRON camera can accurately evaluate potential manufacturing deviations, reduce false error messages, and prevent unnecessary downtime.

Simple operation and remote support

Machine operation is carried out via a touch screen on which operating parameters can be set and individual production programs can be saved. DX-E is standardly equipped with network connectivity for wired and wireless remote technical support. Service technicians can thus quickly diagnose the equipment and assist with resolving any operational situations remotely.

For easy removal of finished books the machine is equipped with a compact unloading table. Upon request it can also be equipped with an automatic book separation system and Smyth Easystack stacker.
